This fund has become a main source of scholarship assistance to qualified Greater Cincinnati residents. Gus Hilb established the Hilb Scholarship Fund at The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati in 1955 in honor of his parents, Mannis and Yetta Hilb. Federation-appointed trustees determine policies and allocations, and Jewish Vocational Service administers the fund. Yearly grant totals from the Hilb awards have exceeded $180,000 to more than 100 students per academic year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;JVS President Peter Bloch commented, “For high school seniors, college-age students and adults who want additional training, making the grade isn’t enough. The partnership between Jewish Vocational Service and the Hilb Scholarship Fund can help. This Scholarship, which serves middle-class residents of the Greater Cincinnati area, is based on need and academic standing. The Trustees of the Hilb Scholarship Fund define need as total family income which does not exceed $100,000.” &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Co-Chairpersons Jerry Klein and Rhoda Mayerson stated, “We’re here to help students get the education and training they need to succeed in the future. By providing an “applicant friendly” process and assisting students on a one-to-one basis, members of our community are better able to attain their goals.”&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Students interested in applying for the Hilb Scholarship should keep the deadlines in mind. The last day to submit an application and make an appointment for an interview with the Hilb administrator is March 15, 2009 for the 2009 Summer Term and May 1, 2009 for the 2009-10 Academic Year. I was excited to learn that I would be working with the Cincinnati Career Network (CCN), a free service available to members of the Jewish Community funded in part by the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati. I had heard about the Cincinnati Career Network at Mercaz Hebrew High School last year when the Career Consultants led a class on time management.  However, I had no idea about all of the extensive services provided by the Career Network.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Cincinnati Career Network professionals provide personalized help with job searches, tips on resume and cover letter writing and effective networking skills, just to name a few. What makes this program unique is that it provides comprehensive career advice to all kinds of job seekers, including high school students, college graduates, entry level employees, and experienced professionals.  The program also connects job seekers to established professionals in the community who volunteer to work with CCN clients in specific fields of interest.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The CCN has evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of Cincinnati’s Jewish unemployed and underemployed.  One example is by making it easy for job seekers to connect with a CCN Career Consultant by accessing the newly launched website, www.cincinnaticareer.net .  As a native of the Cincinnati Jewish Community I am proud to know that we have this service available, and I will certainly utilize the Cincinnati Career Network after I graduate college.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;According to Career Consultant, Kim Slaton, the average American changes jobs ten times and switches careers three times over the course of a lifetime, and the Internet has become the main job-seeking tool.  “Looking for a job today is very different than it was looking for one even ten years ago,” points out JVS President and CEO, Peter Bloch. “There’s a lot of competition out there and people need every advantage possible.
